Cleantech Council delegates meet monthly to discover startups and innovation across clean, green, and sustainable technologies and build community with colleagues from like-minded corporations committed to paving the road to a sustainable future through partnership.
This month, we open our meeting to the public, as we look at opportunities in Solar Innovation.
The solar industry has been unrelenting in its pursuit of advancements that push the boundaries of efficiency, economic viability, scalability, durability, usability. Over the past 60 years, solar has developed from a science project into the cheapest way to generate a KWh of electricity. The progress made in the last 20 years is striking, as photovoltaic technology has improved quickly both in terms of efficiency and lowering cost.

Reaching price-parity with fossil fuel energy generation is going to drive an economic revolution, reshaping energy production, storage, transportation, and utilization. That opens up worlds of opportunity, but the improvements in solar efficiency are nowhere near finished. We are seeing rapid innovation and improvement in solar, much faster than it was improving last century. At our roundtable, we’ll discuss these latest solar technologies:
- Monocrystalline
- Materials from Silicon to gallium indium phosphide (GaInP)
- Perovskite panel designs
- Multijunction panels with multiple layers to capture more wavelengths
- Bifacial panels that produce solar on both sides
- Solar Films, roofs, paint
- New utility-scale or agri-solar system designs
- Battery tech
- And why not throw in AI, since it seems to affect everything
Innovations in Solar energy have come a long way, to now offer us 22% efficient panels at low costs. Join Cleantech Council members, invited speakers and cutting-edge startups for a 2-hour lunch meeting focused on Solar Innovation to help get us past 30%, and produce a growing share of the energy mix with plenty of time for networking and demos.
